How To Uninstall mariadb-common on jessie

To uninstall mariadb-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mariadb-common

MariaDB common metapackage Debian 8.0 database 10.0.30-0+deb8u2

sudo apt-get remove mariadb-common

Which will remove just the mariadb-common package itself.

Uninstall mariadb-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mariadb-common

This will remove the mariadb-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mariadb-common then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mariadb-common  

Or similarly, like this mariadb-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mariadb-common
