How To Uninstall samba-common On Debian 8

To uninstall samba-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just samba-common

common files used by both the Samba server and clientDebian 8.0net2:4.2.14+dfsg-0+deb8u5
sudo apt-get remove samba-common

This will remove just the samba-common package itself.

Uninstall samba-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove samba-common

This will remove the samba-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for samba-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge samba-common

Or similarly, like this samba-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove samba-common
