How To Uninstall uim On Debian 8

To uninstall uim just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just uim

Universal Input Method – metapackageDebian 8.0utils1:1.8.6-8
sudo apt-get remove uim

This will remove just the uim package itself.

Uninstall uim and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove uim

This will remove the uim package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for uim then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge uim

Or similarly, like this uim

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove uim
