How To Uninstall bind9-host on stretch

To uninstall bind9-host just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just bind9-host

Version of 'host' bundled with BIND 9.X Debian 9.0 net 1:9.10.3.dfsg.P4-12.3

sudo apt-get remove bind9-host

Which will remove just the bind9-host package itself.

Uninstall bind9-host and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove bind9-host

This will remove the bind9-host package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for bind9-host then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge bind9-host  

Or similarly, like this bind9-host

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove bind9-host
