How To Uninstall bsdcpio on stretch

To uninstall bsdcpio just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just bsdcpio

transitional dummy package for moving bsdcpio to libarchive-tools Debian 9.0 utils 3.2.2-2

sudo apt-get remove bsdcpio

Which will remove just the bsdcpio package itself.

Uninstall bsdcpio and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove bsdcpio

This will remove the bsdcpio package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for bsdcpio then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge bsdcpio  

Or similarly, like this bsdcpio

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove bsdcpio
