How To Uninstall elpa-git-commit on stretch

To uninstall elpa-git-commit just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just elpa-git-commit

Major mode for editing git commit message Debian 9.0 vcs 2.10.0-2

sudo apt-get remove elpa-git-commit

Which will remove just the elpa-git-commit package itself.

Uninstall elpa-git-commit and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove elpa-git-commit

This will remove the elpa-git-commit package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for elpa-git-commit then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge elpa-git-commit  

Or similarly, like this elpa-git-commit

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove elpa-git-commit
