How To Uninstall emacs24-lucid on stretch

To uninstall emacs24-lucid just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just emacs24-lucid

GNU Emacs editor (with Lucid GUI support) Debian 9.0 editors 24.5+1-11

sudo apt-get remove emacs24-lucid

Which will remove just the emacs24-lucid package itself.

Uninstall emacs24-lucid and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove emacs24-lucid

This will remove the emacs24-lucid package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for emacs24-lucid then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge emacs24-lucid  

Or similarly, like this emacs24-lucid

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove emacs24-lucid
