How To Uninstall emacs23-nox On Debian 7

To uninstall emacs23-nox just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just emacs23-nox

The GNU Emacs editor (without X support)Debian 7.0editors23.4+1-4
sudo apt-get remove emacs23-nox

This will remove just the emacs23-nox package itself.

Uninstall emacs23-nox and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove emacs23-nox

This will remove the emacs23-nox package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for emacs23-nox then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge emacs23-nox

Or similarly, like this emacs23-nox

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove emacs23-nox
