How To Uninstall libdb5.1-stl-dev on wheezy

To uninstall libdb5.1-stl-dev just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libdb5.1-stl-dev

Berkeley v5.1 Database Libraries [STL development] Debian 7.0 libdevel 5.1.29-5

sudo apt-get remove libdb5.1-stl-dev

Which will remove just the libdb5.1-stl-dev package itself.

Uninstall libdb5.1-stl-dev and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libdb5.1-stl-dev

This will remove the libdb5.1-stl-dev package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libdb5.1-stl-dev then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libdb5.1-stl-dev  

Or similarly, like this libdb5.1-stl-dev

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libdb5.1-stl-dev
