How To Uninstall python on wheezy

To uninstall python just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just python

interactive high-level object-oriented language (default version) Debian 7.0 python 2.7.3-4+deb7u1

sudo apt-get remove python

Which will remove just the python package itself.

Uninstall python and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove python

This will remove the python package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for python then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge python  

Or similarly, like this python

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove python
