How To Uninstall tcpdump on wheezy

To uninstall tcpdump just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just tcpdump

command-line network traffic analyzer Debian 7.0 net 4.3.0-1+deb7u2

sudo apt-get remove tcpdump

Which will remove just the tcpdump package itself.

Uninstall tcpdump and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove tcpdump

This will remove the tcpdump package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for tcpdump then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge tcpdump  

Or similarly, like this tcpdump

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove tcpdump
