How To Uninstall tomcat6 on wheezy

To uninstall tomcat6 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just tomcat6

Servlet and JSP engine Debian 7.0 java 6.0.45+dfsg-1~deb7u1

sudo apt-get remove tomcat6

Which will remove just the tomcat6 package itself.

Uninstall tomcat6 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove tomcat6

This will remove the tomcat6 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for tomcat6 then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge tomcat6  

Or similarly, like this tomcat6

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove tomcat6
