How To Uninstall tomcat7-common on wheezy

To uninstall tomcat7-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just tomcat7-common

Servlet and JSP engine -- common files Debian 7.0 java 7.0.28-4+deb7u4

sudo apt-get remove tomcat7-common

Which will remove just the tomcat7-common package itself.

Uninstall tomcat7-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove tomcat7-common

This will remove the tomcat7-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for tomcat7-common then this will work.

  Caution!   Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge tomcat7-common  

Or similarly, like this tomcat7-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove tomcat7-common
