How To Uninstall xchat-gnome On Debian 7
To uninstall xchat-gnome just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just xchat-gnome
http://installion.co.uk/debian/wheezy/main/x/xchat-gnome/uninstall/index.htmlsimple and featureful IRC client for GNOMEDebian 7.0gnome1:0.30.0~git20110821.e2a400-0.2+b2sudo apt-get remove xchat-gnome
This will remove just the xchat-gnome package itself.
Uninstall xchat-gnome and its dependencies
sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove xchat-gnome
This will remove the xchat-gnome package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.
Purging your config/data too
If you also want to delete your local/config files for xchat-gnome then this will work.
Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge xchat-gnome
Or similarly, like this xchat-gnome
sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove xchat-gnome
