How To Uninstall mate-screensaver On Kali Linux 2017.1
To uninstall mate-screensaver just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mate-screensaver

This will remove just the mate-screensaver package itself.
Uninstall mate-screensaver and its dependencies
sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mate-screensaver
This will remove the mate-screensaver package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.
Purging your config/data too
If you also want to delete your local/config files for mate-screensaver then this will work.
Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mate-screensaver
Or similarly, like this mate-screensaver
sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mate-screensaver
