How To Uninstall binutils On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall binutils just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just binutils

GNU assembler, linker and binary utilitiesUbuntu 14.04 LTSdevel2.24-5ubuntu3
sudo apt-get remove binutils

This will remove just the binutils package itself.

Uninstall binutils and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove binutils

This will remove the binutils package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for binutils then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge binutils

Or similarly, like this binutils

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove binutils
