How To Uninstall default-jre On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall default-jre just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just default-jre

Standard Java or Java compatible RuntimeUbuntu 14.04 LTSinterpreters2:1.7-51
sudo apt-get remove default-jre

This will remove just the default-jre package itself.

Uninstall default-jre and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove default-jre

This will remove the default-jre package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for default-jre then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge default-jre

Or similarly, like this default-jre

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove default-jre
