How To Uninstall gnome-desktop3-data On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall gnome-desktop3-data just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just gnome-desktop3-data

Common files for GNOME desktop appsUbuntu 14.04 LTSgnome3.8.4-0ubuntu3
sudo apt-get remove gnome-desktop3-data

This will remove just the gnome-desktop3-data package itself.

Uninstall gnome-desktop3-data and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove gnome-desktop3-data

This will remove the gnome-desktop3-data package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for gnome-desktop3-data then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge gnome-desktop3-data

Or similarly, like this gnome-desktop3-data

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove gnome-desktop3-data
