How To Uninstall whois On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall whois just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just whois

intelligent WHOIS clientUbuntu 14.04 LTSnet5.1.1
sudo apt-get remove whois

This will remove just the whois package itself.

Uninstall whois and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove whois

This will remove the whois package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for whois then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge whois

Or similarly, like this whois

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove whois
