How To Uninstall r-base-dev On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall r-base-dev just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just r-base-dev

GNU R installation of auxiliary GNU R packagesUbuntu 14.04 LTSuniverse/devel3.0.2-1ubuntu1
sudo apt-get remove r-base-dev

This will remove just the r-base-dev package itself.

Uninstall r-base-dev and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove r-base-dev

This will remove the r-base-dev package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for r-base-dev then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge r-base-dev

Or similarly, like this r-base-dev

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove r-base-dev
